The Maldives or Hawaii

What’s the best part of your job?

Seeing the finished product and knowing how much hard work and effort went into it.

I working in a bar in Liverpool whilst I was at university.

How long have you worked with vdBH?

Greatest achievement?

My child

What are some of your hobbies?

I enjoy roller skating, roller derby specifically and I’ve recently started figure skating.

The person you’d most like to have dinner with?

Wilko Johnson from Dr Feelgood because he’s a brilliant guitarist and has led a very interesting life!

The first car you owned?

A gold Ford Capri I had for six months.

How long have you worked for vdBH?

25 years, when I started the company with my wife Dawn.

Greatest achievement?

Raising a family and setting up this award-winning business from scratch after coming to the UK in 1983 with only £40 and a bicycle.

The first album you bought?

Electric Light Orchestra – Out of the Blue

What’s your favourite thing to do on a Sunday?

I like to go to Southwold for a walk along the promenade and around the shops as well as have a coffee on the pier and admire the view.

The first thing you do when you get to site?

I make sure I’m wearing the appropriate PPE and plan the day’s tasks with the team.

Dawn van den Berg-Hider

How long have you worked for vdBH?

25 years!

Greatest achievement?

At work – coming to terms with CDM regulations and Health and Safety – knowing that as a Company we are doing all we can to keep our teams safe! On a personal note – my three children and knowing I have played a positive role in the life of 50 other children through our fostering.

What are some of your hobbies?

I love travelling – and arranging trips! My greatest trip so far has been my trip to Australia last year – I organised it all on my own and stayed in nine different places!

The first thing you do when you get to work?

Normally I go straight to the office and the first thing I do is to make a cup of ginger tea! Then I go through my emails and answer those that require an answer and bin all the rubbish!

What would you prioritise if you were Prime Minister?

I would find a way of providing more money and support to our countries children’s services, the NHS and our Mental Health Services while at the same time ensuring the Management of all was tightened!
